The journey toward the Loro Piana Giraglia 2026 truly began yesterday morning, surrounded by the sound of halyards tapping against the mast, the early summer sun over the old port of Savona, and that unique atmosphere only a marina can create before a major offshore race.
Our Circe, a Beneteau First 36.7, was waiting quietly alongside the dock.Still carrying a few signs of winter, with lines to reorganize and gear spread across the deck, she already felt ready to come back to life.
For the Nuncas Marine Sailing Team, this was not simply a technical preparation day.It was the first real step toward the Giraglia.
We started early, rigging the boat and checking every detail that can make a difference after hours offshore, surrounded by wind, salt and changing sea conditions:
running rigging condition
standing rig tension
organizers and line deflectors
deck hardware
winches and fittings
wear points exposed to salt and mechanical stress

Every inspection was carried out carefully, discussing each adjustment while observing the boat almost as if she were another member of the crew preparing for a long passage.
At the same time, the new Nuncas Marine graphics slowly came to life on the hull.Watching the logo appear on the boat under the Savona sunlight suddenly made everything feel real.It was the moment when months of planning stopped being just a project and finally became a true offshore campaign.
Between technical checks, we also focused on the cleaning and preparation of the exterior surfaces and the areas most exposed to salt, sun and wind, using Nuncas Marine products specifically developed to deliver high performance while respecting the marine environment.
The First 36.7 remains one of the most appreciated offshore racing yachts thanks to its perfect balance of performance, reliability and helm sensitivity — qualities that make her particularly competitive during long-distance races and the constantly changing conditions typical of the Giraglia.

As the marina slowly became busier throughout the day, we kept working while already thinking ahead to the next stages:
performance tuning
sail checks
setup optimization
safety equipment preparation
crew logistics organization
The new oversized mainsail and genoa will also arrive shortly, becoming the next important step in a preparation process that will intensify over the coming weeks.
The truth is that major offshore races begin long before the starting line. They begin on days like this — on the dock, with salt on your hands, endless checks, lines to organize and the excitement of finally heading back offshore.
The Giraglia is still ahead of us.But in many ways, the journey has already begun.
